So yes, very nice story with high stakes for some of the people in here and rather wonderful magic. Just like her relationship with "uncle Al" is blossoming (yes, it's adorable how he is with Lucy and Rae). Well, it looks like she's coming into her own now, and in creative ways to boot. I always thought she was too squeamish when it came to teaching those that wanted her friends and family dead a lesson. I also enjoyed Rachel's further development, character-wise. I can't quite decide what I liked best: the all-out baddies or the bureaucrats trying to capitalize on a bad situation instead of working with Rachel for everyone's benefit. Sure, the comfy relationship between Rachel and Trent is nice as well, especially when now taking into account the two girls, too, but it's always been the supporting characters that are my favorites.Īnd the baddies were superb here. It was soooo nice seeing Jinx and Biss again. The problem is that they have magical help from a mysterious mage. Turns out, those crazy weres are not above killing their own kind and their leader REALLY hates Rachel. But not all is well in the town after she has vanquished Al's brother because suddenly some weres go completely nuts and the witch council is nagging her (threatening with locking her up in Alcatraz again) and Rachel's friends are being targeted. We're back in the Hollows with Rachel, demon sub rosa of Cincinnati. Ah, there it is: one of my comfy blankets.
